    I have available to the keenest bidder a new Atmos 20KW (the cleanest burning £ for £ G/B IMHO) GS model (even cleaner) plus 1500 litre two coil Akvaterm plus Laddomat, pump driver, mixing valve and complete high-spec chimney system. SRP is around £6.5K. Offers over £4K..... Cheers, Crusoe.

    Is that atmos MCS accredited Crusoe?

    No they're not finny. Cankar, the family who make them, are one of the real pioneers of the gasification process, and have all the European approvals. And their burn is the cleanest I have seen. But like some of the smaller European producers they don't deem the UK numbers viable to go for MCS.

    No guaranteeing because you have an MCS approved appliance that you will get MCS money, as you are likely aware.

    I'm an avowed Atmos fan after several installs, so am in the process of installing a 32 KW model. This one is surplus to requirements.

    Hey I am with you there about Atmos Crusoe.. can't get my head round them not going for MCS tho.. do you think they might be waiting on the domestic RHI tariff going live?

    I think it's quite simple finny. They have proved (and approved) their products time and again in their main markets. A peripheral woodburning country like ours is never going to produce sales to justify the huge expenditure on MCS accreditation, which is a tax on manufacturers the same as MCS accreditation is a tax on installers. We may have little choice, but they do.

    This severely limits choice as many reputable manufacturers of woodburning equipment are not going for MCS.

    I agree crusoe, I can't quite see the benefit to us punters of MCS. A "jobs for the boys" quango, job creation scheme, it appears. Just a way of ratcheting up costs after all the accreditation costs ultimately end up coming out of our pockets. I knew of a couple of reputable Swedish manufacturers who didn't go down that route. I once asked someone in MCS, I cant remember who, what assurances they gave with their stamp of approval. They said none. Then why not accept the CE stamp of approval, I understood the log gas boilers have to have a sort of EU accreditation. "Oh we go out and inspect their premises and production", says She. The picture of junket trips round Europe sprung to mind, and that's just boilers. Still I'm just being a cynic, surely that couldn't be, could it?

    Can't help but agree with you both, but what to do.. if there is indeed to be a domstic RHI who is going to buy a boiler thats not on the MCS list?

    Me for one finny. And anyone whose property won't qualify for RHI, plenty of those around. The government don;t actually WANT to give any of the filthy lucre away, despite the rhetoric. Practising your hoop-jumping yet?

    How terribly cynical of you owlman. Can I propose you depose Herman von Rumpuy-Pumpy at your earliest. Massive injection of realism would help the bailing in Euroland as the junket-trains continue to slip below the waves, flunkies at the rails waving Euro-flags printed with the words 'Alles unter Kontrolle'. Mixing my metaphors, but you get my gist.
