Posted By: RobinBso you've found the website? http://www.ecobuild.co.uk/exhibitor-list.html

Right, but a list of company names doesn't tell me what they do, and the categories are useless. Doors & windows doesn't include greensteps, for example. I just want a catalogue in advance, so I don't have to waste precious time on the day.

I'm taking Grand Central down from Yorkshire Monday for Tuesday

Perhaps we should arrange a time to meet up for a drink?

A lot of the seminars sound interesting.

I think I'll be concentrating on products this year.

Posted By: SteamyTeathe train from Penzance to London
A delight! Those old Intercity 125s are swift silent luxury compared to the modern vibrating glorified diesel railcars. And home by sleeper, either in bunk (tea or coffee with your morning call sir?) or in the converted-1st-class 3-abreast spacious seated section (incredibly cheap if booked ahead). Only seen at night, beautifully liveried, pulled by a fleet of refurbed macho 1960s Brush diesels (one maroon, one BRG, one royal blue). GWR still lives!

One thing I noticed at Ecobuild yesterday (apart from the plethora of solar panel, aluminium and concrete suppliers) was an Italian firm called Rothoblaas. They have lots of timber connectors and gaskets and suchlike. One particular item I noticed was lots of 400 mm screws of various kinds, with some ranges extending to 600 mm. There were specific screws for fastening battens through insulation to joists, for example.

Yeah I think I saw them too.

Lots and lots of solar again although I think a fair amount less than last year. Also lots of stuff that had nothing to do with Eco - such as stone and tile floor suppliers, tool manufacturers, and other similar things.

I liked the stawbale building demos - although I didn't have much chance to really watch them.

Katie got to try out a FesTool circular saw so she came away happy. A slightly strange mix of stands. Some bathroom suppliers we're considering that we'd not seen anywhere else and it was quiet enough to talk properly to the people on the stands (which wasn't the case at the last couple of consumer shows we've been to).

I don't recall the stand but was 'almost' impressed with the CHP unit that I saw. The blurb looks good, the techie seemed to know one end of a stick from the and apparently, the unit is in final testing for possible sale next year.

Only problem is that I have seen and heard the same for the last six or seven years (WhisperGen were the first I was aware of but never seen it on sale anywhere). All very eco-friendly but never seems to hit the sales floor. Imagine this one will be a similar.
