......do they exist?
i'm finishing the drawings for a stainless frame for a large glass roof (heat store) on a new build scheme, all the complicated bits are done but i'm stuck at the last hurdle, the 50x50x6mm angleine frame needs to be well fixed into the 6 x 225mm timbers around the edges of the opening........ however i can't use normal coach bolts as the inside of the angle needs to be flush(ish) to not disturb the glass..... Does anyone know of a type of countersunk (i imagine hex headed) coach screw or anything else that may surfice?

As I understand it coach bolts have a square section under the head that pulls into the wood and stops the head from rotating when the nut is done up. There can therefore be no coach screw, just a big screw, because the square bit would stop you rotating it to tighten it up. So two options :- Countersunk bolt with a nut and washer on behind the 9 X 2, or large countersunk screws. If these fixings might need to be removed from the glass side and the other side of the 9 X 2 is covered, then what you need is a plate tapped with the correct thread in it which is fixed by wood screws on to the back of the 9 X 2, so when the bolt is withdrawn the "nut" stays in place.
Frank
