    Here is one to discuss,

According to the folk at FarmingUK dot Com this is the UK’s most environmentally friendliest building

To make a product that 30 to 50% is thrown away.
Good that people are trying though.

    Hi,
It was the statement "salad factory" that caught my eye, only an oxymoron to some!

It seems to me that most advances in industrial building revolve around energy efficiency (obviously nothing wrong in that) rather than the structure or type of build. In a straw bale thread a while back I’d referenced to the use straw bale for a manufacturing facility by Lush cosmetics, so perhaps this is another one to add to short list. Unless anyone knows otherwise.

    Cheers, Mike up North

Any independently certfied BREEAM rating for the building?
    Or confirmed EPC rating?

The next target criterion that should be aimed for, is not merely to minimise environmental impact, but to take the opportunity of investment happening, to do it in a designed way that actively assists the planet, nature, Gaia or whatever in clearing up the backlog of damage we've caused. Not merely less-than-zero environmental impact, but .... well, here we need new terminology and concepts. Permaculture makes a start in that direction - but way to go!

Does anyone do LEED ratings of buildings in the UK? Or is this a purely North American thing?
