Housing - Renovation: Cost-effective passivhaus walls for loft conversion dormer
For various reasons we've had to switch the construction of our dormer loft conversion from blockwork + EWI to timber frame + cladding. Roof tiles to cheeks and timber to front.
As I detail everything I've been getting a bit jittery about our budget so I'm looking for a cost-effective build-up. Any thoughts?
What about (for tiles): 12.5 mm plasterboard 19 mm battens/service zone 9 mm OSB (airtightness layer?) 140 mm timber + mineral wool 12 mm OSB 150 mm EPS 25 mm counter battens 25 mm battens 50 mm (3 x16 mm) plain clay roof tiles
The 150 mm EPS (or whatever it is will overhang the solid brick party wall)
Actually, come to think of it, do I have a problem with the weight of tiles and the battens being separated from the OSB/studs by 150 of insulation?
It may have to be: 12.5 mm plasterboard 19 mm battens/service zone 9 mm OSB (airtightness layer?) 140 mm timber + mineral wool 12 mm OSB 75 mm horizontal timber support + 75 mm EPS 75 mm vertical timber support + 75 mm EPS Breather membrane 25 mm battens 50 mm (3 x16 mm) plain clay roof tiles
