    letter written.......

Not good news so far I'm affraid. we visited planning today and if the position of a house has not been moved more than 1 mtr then they are not concerned. If garden levels are not shown on plans the same applies. Not worried....
It states on my plans that I must build a 2 mtr fence on ther boundary. What a joke as my neighbours garden will be 1 mtr up. Pointless.
So, the planning guy is visiting site and will then decide. It does not look good for me though after the initial conversation. The only route I can then take is the Welsh Office.
    Bloody neighbours.
The joint access passes over his land. We are to share the cost of this section of drive. What if I tell him I cant afford it? What happens then? Small minded I know but if he will not scratch my back I am not scratching his. I can finish my drive so it will not bother me!

Sorry, I also forgot to mention that if I wnted to increase my boundary fence height to give me some degree of privacy I need to apply for planning permission. You couldn't make it up could you?

But Gusty, is that not 2m above their garden level?
  5.
Yes exactly. I will have neighbours peering over if I keep it lower. That was my logic anyway.

Suggest you plant trees along boundary (Leylandii always look nice!)

Gusty, if this has already been suggested sorry but have not read the whole thread. Are you able to raise you garden to match his for a narrow strip and stick your 2 m fence on top of that. As the planners appear unconcerned with land heights would this not avoid planning (but incur costs admittedly). Apologies if this makes no sense in the light of the previous discussion.
