A customer showed me today an advert clipped from a magazine they take, in which a number of now defunct but notoriously hard-sell solar thermal companies such as SMART were themselves being targeted by lawyers in PPI type fashion. Poetic justice, except I fear that credit card companies will take the main hit, not the solar companies themselves.

Has anybody had any experience of this to date or pursued a claim? This also raises the question of what we are going to do about solar thermal installation methodology, as the 'approved' model of two panels and a tank is not livign up to its longevity claims in many instances. Any thoughts or solutions?

In what way are they failing? I can see that they aren't fit and forget for 25 years, but whats the real life experience?

Mmm, you obviously missed the threads where I have commented on SMART energy systems - around 17 000 of them - having a failure rate of + - 50%, according to a reliable source within the industry who knows these people. And empirically, the sharks wouldn't be closing in unless they smelt the Tyfocor in the water...
