I'm planning to install a single room heat recovery ventilation unit in my kitchen which is about 5 x 3m. I've looked on the Vent-Axia website but I've no idea which of the many products would be suitable. Can anyone give advice? Is there any guidance anywhere on calculating what you need, based on the size of the room?

    Hi Baffled:

Unless it is a continuously operating system you would need to achieve 30 litres/sec above the cooker (but not recommended as the exchanger gunges up), or 60 litres/sec for a unit remote from the cooker.

Other manufacturers you could consider are Soler and Palau or the FiWi system - check out Viking House's website.

Thank you for that very useful info.
Please could you explain why "the exchanger gunges up".

It quickly collects fat and grease and steam from cooking and dust and fluff stick to this forming an orible gunge.
