Could you advise Mikeee5 with his Smoke Nuisance thread. He is getting problems with air pollution from wood burning. I would imagine that air quality is a real concern for your company and one you will be very experienced in?

Surely we should give a new user a break when they are being above board (without promoting) their company.
I can think of several here with strong interests who also contribute excellently to a productive debate.

At risk of restarting previous threads I would argue that biomass does have a role to play, especially in refurbishment, but is clearly not a panacea.

Amanda - You may want to skim the 'biomass - a burning issue thread' to get an idea of some history on this forum. This forum is often ahead of its time so is an excellent place to find ideas/concerns that may be mainstream in a few years/decades.

Please dont frighten off Ashwell Biomass as I am looking forward to the debate between Brian and Ashwell as the technology they use is at the dirty end of biomass. Just to start stirring the pot their Latvian partner is currently installing in Finland a Peat fired system capable of accepting moisture content upto 55%.

As do others on the site but this seems to be acceptable. Conversely if Amanda had chosen a username like 'amandachu' some might argue she was hiding her interest. Openness is generally a good thing and if it broke the site rules the moderators would have removed it - so far they haven't.

You clearly have some strong views on the subject but the bulk of these comments aren't critical debate, merely joking at someone else’s expense and make the forum a less open and diverse place to discuss ideas.

In fact I think you recently sounded regretful at shouting down opponents (of windfarms)- why not try listening to what someone has to say first this time?

wow, I posted an introduction a few days ago and come back to find 21 comments discussing me and my username, including suggestions that I might not return.
I will take the comments on the chin and in the spirit of the forum world - we're all here to rant and rave, get things off our chest etc. I'm big enough and ugly enough to cope.

I think that all of us are here for different reasons but whether it is a hobby, a non commercial project or a business, or whatever, at the end of the day we are all interested enough in the subject matter to take the time to register (and pay the subscription fee) and to come back regularly (or every now and then).

There is such a big fuss made in the intro to this forum about it not being the place for advertising and self promotion that I thought it best to highlight my choice of username before somebody did it for me. We all use a tagname that reflects us and the identity we want to portray - or in my case the business that I represent.

And just to give something for you to rant back about :
is it right that I can't mention a business UNLESS I pay for the privilege (as Eco Angus presumably have done on the page that I am looking at)?
I had enough of that last week with the Olympics - you could only use Visa inside of the Olympic Park, East end traders were prevented from calling their cafe or car wash 'Olypmic XYZ' (take a look at http://www.terrywoodhouse.co.uk/olympic-branding-article-featuring-mr-routledge/ to see what I mean)

Happy for you to clean up if you think that the thread would put some people off - or distract them from the true intention of the forum.
Though I do agree that a few light hearted pokes are harmless enough. The difficulty is that some web users can (and do) take things personally so it can be difficult to draw the line. I guess that if I took offence the end result would just be that I wouldn't come back.
