Any bright ideas, I’m designing a system for removing unwanted summer solar gain from our light weight super insulated extension into our existing old cottage with all the heavy thick walls that will absorb this excess heat. Air will be moved through the FF ceiling joist all of which run in the direction of the cottage and are clear of obstructions with the insulation laid on top the joist over an OSB sub floor. The idea is on hot days the space between joists will heat and all i have to do is draw it into the cottage and supply replacement air at the other end to heat up as it slowly passes through the joist void.

The problem i have is finding an extractor fan that will pull air very slowly say 30m3/hr or less. Is it possible to control fan speed with a dimmer switch? Can i reverse the direct by simply wiring the fan backwards?

what about computer fans, these come in a variety of sizes and can be run slower by reducing voltage, many come with the required resistors etc. I'm using one to provide cooling to my hifi cabinet via a cheap electronic thermostat, the setup would be ideal
