Evening all.

New member here, been lurking about for a while and thought that I would take the plunge.

So we have a relatively new property (built 2006) and we would like to extend above the existing single story kitchen to create a bedroom.

The kitchen is standard block construction, which has been rendered. Among other advantages the speed of build and ability to carry out the majority of work myself appears to make SIPS look attractive.

The plan is to have single SIP (125mm) sitting on the other blockwork which I believe I can batten and fix cement board to then render (skimming over the existing render as well) rough detail attached.

Roof would be SIP (150mm) with either a glulam ridge or purlins or both?

Just wondered what your thoughts might be? I have been trying to detail the union between the standard cavity construction and the SIP wall, was wondering about a cavity closer then a wood soleplate to cover the whole lot?

Any thoughts, tips and comments would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Matt
