There was a thread were this was discussed before but I have been unable to find it.

We have a GSHP that does the CH and DHW . For the summer months (DHW only) it has used on averaged 2.3 Kwh per day. This is for 2 people with plenty of showers and washing machine use. Over the year it has averaged 4.98 Kwh per day, this includes some space heating but not all as we also have a wood burning stove that is used a lot in the winter.

I can't remember and it may have gone off topic as I have had a quick look through the GSHP threads and I don't think it was any of them.

    Beau,
What size property etc? I seem to using a lot more than you but for 2 adults and 2 children. It would be good to compare notes?

Our house is a 1 1/2 storey barn conversion with about 120m2 of floor and 300m3 total volume. The wood burner does not help with the DHW water but does do a large proportion of the space heating.
  2.
    Beau,
But you use 2.3Kwh for DHW in the summer? I will check my consumption figures when I get home but mine is way above that. The property is a 2 storey new build but I over insulated. From memory I tend to be around the 16 units per day in the summer months! The total floor area is 325m2 but this 16 units a day is DHW only with a little for lights, TV left on etc (kids).

2.3 kWh is about what I use a day for DHW, how hot is your water?

I have double checked my numbers and between the 25th of May and today the GSHP used 220 units (measured on a reconditioned house meter fitted to GSHP) so yes we used 2.3 Kwh per day this summer for DHW.

    Very good point ST

We run the hot water at 47C and have adjusted the legionela cycle to run only once a month as this uses a lot of power.

Should have said that is just me, when my wasteful lodger is here it is about 6 kWh/day. Your water temp is about the same as mine (50°C), but my incoming temp may be a bit higher. I am on pure resistance heating at just under 6p/kWh.
  3.
Hmmmm. My water temp is 48C and legionela cycle is also monthly. I will need to look at this in a bit more detail. Does you HP run to reheat at any time? Mine does. I am not sure what I need to draw for it to fire though. So how do I use so much power? Mine is an 11kW Worcester Bosch Combi.

We have an IVT greenline C6
The hot water tank is built into the unit so not much pumping required. Do you have some circulation pumps that run a lot of the time? Our unit has a weather compensation controller that if left on original settings would run a circulation pump if the outside temperature drops below 10C if you need heating or not. I am afraid I don't know what reheat is.
  4.
My system has a hot water tank just next to it so not much pumping required although my DHW system does circulate twice a day so hot water is instant (ish) in all bathrooms. This should reduce waste. I do not cook with electric and have LED lighting in every room. Is your 2.3kWh all in or just your HP use. My 14kWh is my total usage but it seems very high compared to yours.

2.3 is just heat pump you can now relax

I have just dug out our electricity bill and we have been metered as using 4.2 Kwh total per day but we have a PV system so we must use more than this. This time last year we used 7 Kwh per day so I think you are doing pretty well considering you have 2 kids.
  5.
Ahhh Beau..... so I am not so bad after all
I was starting to wonder. I could not find any juice drinking nasty appliances. PV is on the cards for my next build I hope along with ST. Thanks for finding your old bills to shed some light on my usage :wink:
