    I have access to some nylon netting material of the type used to bind big baled straw/hay/silage.

    Any suggestions for testing the u value to ascertain if it would be useful as loft insulation after applying a fire retardant.

    It's perhaps more about the air trapped in the netting so I'm not sure that GBF can give you a reliable figure.
    But this forum's a bit magic, someone might turn up any minute to prove me wrong!

    This is American (so be careful of units, but has a nylon carpet in it:

    thanks for that, still unclear though. Definitely traps a lot of air. Can't see it doing any harm thermally in the loft.
