I have just had a 'spring break' and Kingspan only sell full sets and it seems a real overkill as they suggest re-drilling the blades etc to install them. However on inspection the existing springs are mounted really cleverly and just twist on or off of the brackets during a dismantle, so simple individual spring replacement would be most logical and eco choice.

Any help that can be offered would be appreciated - there must be a low-tech solution to this.

He's replaced the springs on his 2.5 kW and I don't think he's ever bought any bits directly from Proven/Kingspan. I know he makes his own bushes but can't remember whether he got proper springs elsewhere or something equivalent.

the springs are stainless steel and if you can get them for £8 each then I'll take 27 :-) My turbine has been up for eight years now and I've always managed to find second hand springs but I'm down to my last one now so would be seriously interested if you can find a supplier.

Just a note about a full set Keith, they will include the heavier upgraded yolks that hold the springs, hence the drilling bit. The new yolks are M10 instead of M8 and cast instead of pressed. I'm still on my original small sized ones but it's only because I've been able to scrounge spares, If you read my posts below you'll see what I mean, mine broke once and I cobbled something together

As far as repairing and replacing all the other gubbins then these may be of interest lifeattheendoftheroad keeping the lights on/2013/02/10/ and perhaps better lifeattheendoftheroad/2012/05/29/site-temporarily-unavailable/ which has some links for the nylon bits.

One of my smaller ones broke a few years ago so I changed the lot. I'll track down your website soon, I'm stuck on an overdue issue of the mag at the moment.

In the meantime, because i'm an idiot, I'm running my machine on pairs of springs rather than trios and it seems to be generating better. What phenomenon is that?

kingspan happened to mention (but certainly not recommend) that offgrid machines ran on two springs - mine is offgrid but came with three.
