Ive searched the scottish regs but can't fine the right bit. We have theventilation pipe to go from bathroom to out the roof. however this is very close to a velux. I know there are regs saying how close you can go, but I can't find them

Any help appreciated

“3.7.8 Ventilation of a drainage system

A Wastewater drainage system serving a building should be ventilated to limit the pressure fluctuations within the system and minimise the possibility of foul air entering the building. A system should be installed in accordance with the guidance in Sections 4, 5, 6 and National Annex ND of BS EN 12056-2: 2000.”

So you'd have to look at the BS (which may or may not stand for British Standard). I think that's the case for Scotland as well

Next question is do you have to go outside at all - depending on the immediate surroundings, an air admittance valve inside may well be acceptable
