    There are so many solutions to this being tested now, a big slug of investment in new technology now rather than a massive layout for an outdated plant that 'may' be operational in 12 years makes better financial sence. Look how far EV and battery technology has adbvanced in the same timeframe.

    GF infrastructure will have iterated multiple times before Hinkley generates one rotation to aid grid stability.

    What I don't understand is why Solar contracts are only based on generation rather than sustained output? Why is storage not mandated as part of the application process. What possible excuse is there for installing vast fields of PV panels without a few containers of batteries, or a sand battery?
