Anyone here used JJI ijoists. How do they compare with Steico?
  1.
My portal timber I-beam framed house is constructed using Steico I-beams. I later added a ceiling and created a small loft space above the utility room using JJI joists. The only difference I found was that it was easier and neater cutting holes in the web material of the Steico beams.

    Thanks Peter. Good to know.

One of my regrets was using wooden i-joists for the floors. Next time would definitely use metal web joists - probably a few days spent cutting holes for cables and MHVR ducting but, more than that, I think metal web would make future retrofit requiring extra though the ceiling cabling way easier.

I too was pleased we happened to choose metal web joists.

+1for metal web joists. I found it so easy for feeding through ducting and conduit.
