Was shortly to have installed a 6kw system with batteries. For a while I have been unhappy with the fact the components are all from China due mainly because of problems I have had with stuff made there and civil right issues. The pandemic crisis has no made me rethink the whole project given that most or at least half of the spend will end up with Chinese companies whilst today RR have announced 9000 redundancies as result of the pandemic not forgetting the considerable tragic loss of life and the huge economic problems that is happening. I want to spend my money here or at lease Europe or USA. Is there a way of finding out fairly easily where solar stuff is made without trawling through every conceivable make. I can find directories of suppliers and installers
Does anyone have an easy way into finding the info I need.

I think you'll struggle to get parts not made in china - particularly for the panels themselves.

Ten years ago after lots of research we went with western companies who manufactured in china to western reliability and labour standards - no issues to date.

Things can change a lot in a decade but we went with Canadian solar panels and an SMA inverter.

Have a look at REC, a Norwegian firm making their panels in Singapore.
https://www.recgroup.com/en/rec-products
I had 3.6 kWs-worth of their panels installed Nov 2011 and have had no problems with them.

(The Aurora inverter (not by REC) did pack up after 5 years, apparently due to insufficient copper on the pcb track to one of the relays. Happily it was possible to fix that without much effort and it has worked ok since.)

Had a look at rec panels they look a very advanced spec don't seem to have a distributor in UK. I want to keep to my current proposed installer as he is very local to me and employees a number of local electricians and has apprentices and being in a semi rural area it is important keep as local as I can, It might be he is limited to what he can access. My proposed install was similar to what he has done on his own property and he is familiar with all the components and done the necessary training for the batteries install. It may be that he can source REC but will do more research first to get some choices. You make a good point philedge but I think their stance is from one unsavoury person, and come next election hopefully things will change.
