    What ho one and all,

    We have two balconies and each has the same tilt / sliding window. They are flush with the fixed window when closed, then pulled to open and a parallelogram mechanism brings them inwards to slide.

    One has developed a loose fixing and although it works, when open, is not parallel with the fixed frame. The issue is that the rod, which is fitted into the casting (red arrow) now slides in and out of the casting. And I cannot see how it can be tightened. Looks to me that when made, the rod was inserted and the ribbing just crimped to lock the two together, but knowing that does not solve my problem as I cannot remove anything.

    Epoxy will most likely not provide a permanent solution.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated and / or a link to how this works.

    Unfortunately, the Danish manufacturer of my windows went out of business X years ago so nothing available that I can find.

    Drill a small hole into the casting, tap it and then secure the rod with a screw? Maybe a grub screw if there isn't much room for a screw head.

    PS would the red arrow be up near the top of the second picture if it was shown?

    PPS This page seems to be written by somebody who may be able to discover details of whoever designed your system, and maybe any comparable modern manufacturers:

    Good idea. If you need the "screw" to be flush drill all the way through and insert a roll pin of length equal to the diameter of the casting.

    Revor, that is a good idea, thanks. My mind does not automatically revert to roll pins.

    I can see one challenge; the casting will most likely, be quite easy to drill, the rod, probably not so easy! If I could get it to the bench, that would be easier but that is most unlikely. Have to drill in-situ.

    That's why I suggested a screw.
