Last year I replaced all the windows in my house with that expensive, double-pane, energy-efficient kind of window. Today I got a call from the contractor who installed them. He complained that the work had been completed a year ago and I still hadn't paid for them. Just because I'm blonde doesn't mean that I am automatically stupid. So, I told him just what his fast-talking sales guy told me last year... that these windows would pay for themselves in a year. It's been a year, so they're paid for, I told him. There was only silence at the other end of the line, so I finally hung up. He never called back. I bet he felt like an idiot.

Recently, I am getting quite a lot of what I believe to be AI phone calls for window and door replacement. Am pretty certain it is AI since after the intro pleasantries, whatever question I ask, is usually answered by a pause and then a repeat of the last sentence. Am told they fit all sizes but when I asked if they had my size windows, which are around 1.5 m x 2 m, the line was cut.

They have not yet told me that they will pay for themselves!

Of course not, the connection hangs up before I can ask any 'relevant' questions. I always love the 'Your are listed as the owner of the property.... blah blah blah...' When I ask how do they know I am the registered owner and what is the property, again, they hang up.
