    Looking to refurb my office - 6 desks 1800mm x 700-800mm depth

Any suggestions on materials that give a good corporate image but also boast good green credentials.

They must all be standardised and suitable for standing desks

    TIA

Used pallet wood bonded to OSB, preferably clean second hand. All sanded and sealed.

Sounds like a lot of labour for pallet wood. Don't think it would meet the professional look I'm going for

Fostertom looks good, anything in UK?

if you have employees (6 desks?) then your choice of product will need to meet various HSE criteria such as Display Screen Equipment (DSE regs) amongst other things. I wonder if the carbon footprint of designing, sourcing, testing to ensure compliance etc wouldn't be more than just buying something that has already gone through that extensive process - put your time and effort into your day job - of course having tried to find an "ethical supplier". Just a thought...

They're for standing desks, so basically the worktops.

Ideally 1800 x 800mm. So it's just a case of which sheet material or supplier to go with

We think we'll go with 24mm plywood.

    Anything to watch out for?

We have this approach in my office - make sure you seal it with a lacquer and get a decent appearance to the timber as it comes in different grades.

If it helps, this is what I think we specified years ago: "Grade BB Birch-Faced ply with sprayed acid-catalysed lacquer"

Also worth getting slightly chamfered edges to avoid clothing etc. catching on the easily-splintered finished edges.

If you're feeling adventurous, there's a really good example of red stained & lacquered plywood at the new Bowie Archive in the V&A East Storehouse building.

Photo doesn't really do it justice but it's a lovely finish.

    Now that looks impressive!

Yeah I have read BB it's the trade to go for. I was going to go for a clear satin finish... But that stain looks good. I wonder how well it holds up....
