Any preference even looking at 3G Alu-Clad?

I was introduced to AB's products by a client who used the timber 2G products and was delighted with the cost/quality balance.

Just be sure when talking to AB that you are discussing lead times for the alu clad windows (made in mainland Europe) and not the UK-manufactured timber ones. I fell foul of this a few years ago and had to cancel the order and go elsewhere (and delay the whole project still ;-( ). IIRC lead times were something like 5 months for alu clad and 2 for timber (but check with AB as the relative times may well have changed). Again, IIRC, the section was pretty skinny compared to the GBF (now 21 Degrees) wins I went for instead. May have required some head-scratching with IWI/EWI returns.

Well AB they guarantee 8 week lead time on the alu-clad:

8 weeks lead time (from date of sign off – excluding annual shutdown period in the summer)
One to one service with project coordinators
    32mm double glazed units (1.4 U-Val) average
    47mm Triple glazed units (0.8 U-Val) average
Quick quotation turnaround time – usually within 24/48hrs
Free assisted site survey by professional dedicated Allan Brothers staff

I asked them about window makeup as Nordan is 4-16-4-16-4 and they advised their glass is 4-18-3-18-4 or could be configured as 4-20-3-16-4 if required

AB have said their windows are made in Denmark

I guess I'll need to revisit prices with both

Hi VE, obviously things have improved significantly since May 2022, when they wrote:

''Nick before I process this any further I need to make you aware that lead time is in the region of 14 to 15 weeks at present.
The 8-10 week lead time you refer to is for U.K manufactured products, your order would be produced in Denmark.

Can you firstly let me know if 15 weeks is acceptable as there is no improvement on this unfortunately due to volume of orders
And also backlog associated with materials procurement issues.''

I recall the prices being significantly lower than GBF all-timber Performance range. It was disappointing not being able to try them, but at that time the lead-time was far too long.

There's a pitfall- 'lead time' begins to run from when every last detail of the order is clarified and agreed - which can take several to-and-fro's with marked lack of urgency - weeks if not months (I'm talking otherwise-excellent-VFM Russell Timbertech here).
