I was visiting my sister today who is having an extension built, timber frame inner leaf with 140mm deep studs, filled with Kingspan, 10mm OSB, 50mm cavity then rendered blockwork. I was surprised to note that on the inside, the approved plans just have a vapour barrier and 12.5mm plasterboard. I thought regs would require 25mm insulated plasterboard to combat cold bridging, especially as in some areas there are 4 studs nailed together to support timber lintels over windows etc. The roof is the same, poorly fitted Kingspan between the joists, vapour barrier and 12.5mm plasterboard.

Apparently building control have been onsite and are happy. Is this normal practice?
