    Is UFH like the old Daleks? My sitting room is 600mm above the main first floor, I was planning to have the entire first floor as a single zone, but can I simply run the pipe up 600mm or will I risk airlocks? Can/should I introduce a bleed valve? thanks!

    I don't suppose you can feed the rest from the sitting room?
    You should be OK having a bleed valve just before the pipe returns down the step, but I haven't tried it, and have limited experience with underfloor heating.

    Filling it with mains pressure should not leave any air locks so you should be OK with no air bleed -- if you do fit one make it a manual one not auto.

    Our house is on three levels each step about 500mm. We opted for a minifold on the top level and one loop/zone per level. No problems with air locks.

    Going down a step isn't allways trivial. The pipe has a minimium bend radius and our supplier recommended using pipe supports that stop the bend radius tightening up on it's own resulting in a pinch. Might need to go down the step at an angle (eg mostly parallel with the edge of the step).

    PS You can have more than one loop per zone/stat. eg could have one loop per level all controlled by one stat. Normal recommendation is that each loop be limited to 100m of pipe so may need more than one loop anyway if floor area is big enough.

    My UFH is on 2 floors - I hadn't considered it might not make it up the stairs to the 1st floor (not in use yet as we still haven't absolutely decided on the heat source ... )

    I installed ours myself, the supplier was attempting to sell me a second manifold unit for the upstairs.
    Since it was only a single loop to cover two bathrooms, I simply used the downsatairs manifold and run the pipe up and around and back down
    It works 100%, there is after all a pump plus NO air in the system to lock

    Thanks all for very useful comments, upshot seems to be UFH will cope better than a Dalek. Useful caveats re. pipe bends etc. thanks again

    Hi all,
    We just installed an UFH from the manifold we have the highest point on the loops about 750mm higher.
    Running well, we had good main pressure to fill-up
