We are considering the use of the above for some new social housing development within the Teignbridge area.
Any feedback on operational issues, particularly at low ambient temperatures, running costs, corrosion problems in coastal areas, etc. would be most welcome.

Not a bad idea if you are not paying the heating bills, you could insulate really well and hardly need any heating at all.

It will automatically dehumidify the place too.

Running cost will depend on how well you build in terms of insulation and air leakage.

You will get about 3 kW of heat for each kW of electricity, but electricity is a relatively expensive fuel though eventually it will be the only one.

The units will be very low maintenance, nothing for five years then bianually but clean filters every six months.

corrosion should not be a problem if you site the units away from salt spray.

Not in heating mode it won't - only in AC mode.

Make sure proper "pleated media filters" are used and these can be changed once a year - these are 4-5" thick - the 1" thick fibreglass filters are junk.

Units in North America are available with coated coils to slow down the inevitable corrosion from salt spray - even if you're a couple of miles from the sea there's still some salt in the air.
