What's the best (densest) material to fill holes in solid brick party walls. Just use cement sand mortar? Is there anything denser for good sound insulation?

No point using anything denser than the materials of the wall itself, i.e. brick and mortar.

What about clay plaster? Clay plaster would be similar density to brick and denser than mortar, no?

I'd second the bricks and mortar.

The party wall could well be carrying some load, so I'd want to fill holes with something solid !

K, ta. Probably not big enough hole to get a brick in so we'll just fill with mortar.
