Not good news - it seems Ice Energy have gone into Administration which is a great shame .

Wocester Bosch have been quick to respond to a repair request for my GSHP .

IceEnergy had very dubious marketing/sales practices.... I will not be sad to see them go, but I do feel sorry for the POORer customers they left behind...

Ooops I have a GSHP from them. Agreed the sales was a bit keen but the IVT unit has been faultless to date. Anyone know who does repairs on them as sooner or later it's going to need some work?

To be fair we didn't have much problem with them but went in with our eyes open and a pretty good understanding of what we needed. This was in the early days so they may have got worse as I have heard a few stories of unsuitable instals.
  1.
I have been helping IVT owners with there systems for some time now and I have had 5 calls today regarding Ice Energy systems since the bad news.

Well looks at though it is going to get more complicated - Worcester Bosch will not deal with IVT heat pumps as they are a different part of the Bosch group .
The Worcester engineer came out on site and confirmed this ( shame they didnt tell me this when I booked the visit as I have lost a few days ) - I will try IVT in Sweden to find out what if any is the chance of a warranty repair - my pump is just over a year old . There is a service guarantee which Ice Energy provided via a 3rd part insurer so will see where this gets me if there isn't and IVT solution .
A review of the Ice Energy site which is still up says they are the sole importer of IVT

    Not what I needed

Will post more as I learn more
  2.
we are able to fully support all IVT units and have access to all spares and parts required

Well I think previous customers of Ice Energy are going to find things frustrating based on my experience - I tried today to talk to IVT in Sweden but kept being put through to Europe support and was always number 8 in the queue. This happened 3 times and the position didn't change after 15 minutes so something isn't right or they take a very long time per call .
I then tried the warranty company Ice Energy used and when I said i paid part of the payment on a card they said there policy wasn't therefore in operation as the small print ( which I have never seen ) excludes where there is other redress . I have therefore spoken to the credit card company who are sending me the forms.

I called the RECC and they were surprised that the warranty company are saying you need to claim off the credit card company BUT they didn't know Ice Energy are in administration . I think IVT Bosch need to get involved but so far no response to my emails - There website in Sweden says they now provide 10 year warranty but time will tell what happens to UK customers .

Well I got to speak to IVT Sweden - The good news is the 5 year warranty on IVT is factory backed - the bad news is as yet there is nothing in place to provide warranty repairs in the UK but they are working on it - will keep you posted

A quote from the sticky thread at the top of this forum:
"This is a moderated forum so please be aware that your postings may be edited at any time by the Green Building Press or authorised moderator/s if they are of an unacceptable standard or contain advertising"

== advertising isn't allowed. While I'm sure your efforts are well intended, this isn't the place to be schmoozing for custom

Given that this thread is likely to come up on Google for customers of Ice that need their systems fixed, I think we should be more relaxed about advertising until such time as IVT Sweden has a system in place. Then the advertising can be deleted.

If they want to advertise on GBF, or GBP there are official channels through which they can achieve this aim (and pay the going rate). Why you think it's acceptable that GBP should have to pay for the bandwidth and servers to host unsanctioned adverts for vultures wishing to cash in on ICE's demise, is beyond me.. unless you're authorised to represent GBP?

I'm deleting posts that contain blatant advertising in the threads. it is not allowed in the discussions - sorry. Members are welcome to say who they represent and that is all then if anyone wants to ask further we have a whisper system in place.

I am an Ice Energy customer with a IVT ground source heat pump. The pump has been alarming due to a high temperature difference. I spoke to Ice Energy at the start of last week (nobody told me they were going into administration) and did all the checks they asked. They then arranged for an engineer visit us this week on Tuesday31st January when i asked why it was taking them so long to get to me they advised it was because the system was still working and therefore was not a priority call. They actually should have said "because we will be shut by then and you will not be able to speak to anyone so we are fobbing you off!"

I now have a pump which is alarming every hour which is under warranty but no one will fix! I would like to know if anyone has recommendations for a reputable company who deal with IVt ground source heat pumps?

There is always a chance that ICE will Phoenix and honour some warrentys. Long shot I know, but it does happen (depends on their relationship with the hardware supplier).

    Welcome Sarah,

I am sure no-one wants to miss an offer of help in a difficult situation like this, but have you seen this from Keith, the Forum owner?:

    http://www.greenbuildingforum.co.uk/newforum/comments.php?DiscussionID=584&page=1

If you *have* already paid to advertise please accept my apologies for sticking my nose in, but this Forum is to some extent moderated by its active members.

**Keith, given that the thread noted above re advertising is now on its 2nd page, the exhortation not to advertise unpaid has to be looked for, rather than jumping out at you. Is this flagged up when new members sign up?

Former employees of Ice Energy have formed a company called Alto, which will take over maintenance and installation of the IVT heat pumps. News arrived in an email the other day!

Hi Nick - here is the email I received. I doubt that the new company will take on the commitments, as that rests with the administrators, but you could ask for clarification.
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Important Information For Ice Energy Customers

    Dear Steve,

We are writing to confirm that Ice Energy Heat Pumps Ltd has been placed into liquidation.

All staff at Ice Energy were made redundant at the end of January and Critchleys LLP was appointed as liquidator at a creditors meeting held on the 27th February.

Any customers that placed deposits with Ice Energy, or have any other type of claim, should direct this claim to Critchleys in the first instance:

    FAO Andy Loyd
    Critchleys LLP
    Oxford

Following their redundancy a number of former Ice Energy employees have since established a new company called Alto Energy Limited. Alto Energy has subsequently acquired a number of Ice Energy assets from the liquidator including the website www.iceenergy.co.uk and the newsletter subscription list, hence our ability to now reach out to you with this information.

Separately to this, Alto Energy has also secured the IVT distribution agreement to the UK. After Ice Energy's agreement was terminated as a result of their insolvency, IVT selected Alto Energy from a number of applicants due to its commitment to employ a critical volume of field engineers and in-house technical staff to enable legacy IVT customers to be supported. Please see our Alto Energy website here.

So if you placed an order with Ice Energy that has not been completed or if you have any new projects for which you would like to receive a quotation please don't hesitate to let the team at Alto Energy know.

Likewise if you require any form of maintenance, servicing, or just general technical advise on an existing Heat Pump installation that you previously ordered from Ice Energy then please consider the Technical Support team here at Alto your first port of call.

We have created a page dedicated to Ice Energy Customer Support which may be able to help answer some of your initial questions.
