    Hiya,

I've taken on an old water mill, that's generally cold and damp though has still been comfortably converted. I've loads of ideas for fuel/energy efficiency etc. hence have joined this forum to ask advice and share my ideas and experiences as I go on.

Currently the house has central heating with an old (and costly to run) LPG fired boiler. Hence, I've bought a multi-fuel stove with boiler to fit an existing fire place. So, first idea I've had is to NOT connect to existing central heating, which will mean a lot of work, but to go the Whole-House-Ventilation-with-Heat-Extraction route.

I have two questions for I would be grateful for others advice/experience:
    - Can I run the stove (Hunter-Herald 8) without the boiler connected to anything. Manufacturer says no, though can offer no explanation as to why not.
    - If I bought a WHV+HE system, could I use the stove boiler to pre or post heat the warm air supply to the house?

    Thanks,

    Gary
