Is 112mm diameter black ducting resistant to chemicals in houehold waste? It is a lot cheaper than either undergound brown soil pipe the grey/black used above ground. It is supplied with a wider 'cup' end to slot in to the next pipe. If you cut off the cup, it interfaces perfectly with all 112mm soil pipe/sewer fittings. It is prone to discolouration by UV light (and perhaps that would eventually make it brittle?) but I cannot see any problem using it undergound / inside - apart from petty regulations.

I think the wall thickness is less, so it is less able to withstand being laid across sharp stones and its brittleness might result in fractures due to ground movement. If YOU lay it into a good back fill and the ground is not subject to heavy loading (traffic), I reckon you can get away with it, buts its a small cost saving in the overall project compared with the cost and nuisance of having to replace it.

Thanks chuckey. The wall thickness looks the same, but apparently it is not so impact resistant and less stiff, so needs good support. A knowledgeable friend at a builders' merchant tells me that as long as it is inside or well-protected underground, it's fine.

The proper brown stuff is designed to be rodent and tree root proof as well as strong enough to be driven over when burried 0.9m down.

I would not use it AGAIN ( And I'm a tight Yorkshire type)
its very very brittle, regardless of UV exposure
it needs the proper orange/"Wavin" sewer pipe
    cheers
