  1.
In our current works, my brother has taken the roof off completely, and rebuilt it using modern techniques, with lots of space and insulation.

We have two chimneys, both of which have 6" insulated liners, to the point where the new stuff has been added on.

From there on, insulated chimney blocks (RM1 and RM2 - slanty onees, from here http://www.topstak.co.uk/building.php) have been added on upwards to the chimney; the insulation is a shed load of vermiculite mixed with cement (I think) around the outside of the chimney blocks.

The question is - do I need to put a flue liner down as well? We reckon we could get a 5" liner probably all the way down one of the chimneys, inside blocks then the existing liner, but I'm not sure it will be worth it.

Any thoughts? How will the draw be affected? What about cleaning the chimneys?

    Thanks very much!
