    Was about to start pointing up or harling some farm buildings for a future holiday enterprise but been having second thoughts that maybe external insulation would be better.

    That said although I know I lose the stone what kind of render can I apply do you think that will stand the test of time with regards to looking good - my fear is that any cement render could look a bit hard and characterless so any ideas that would keep a feature pleasant? And that way I can simply p/board or lime plaster inside to retain some character there.

    This is about render on EWI, specifically. I'd like to know how to apply trad renders, or gd look-alikes, on EPS. E.g. roughcast.

    use a nylon mesh mechanically fixed probably over the first pricking up coat?

    I dont think that you need one, so long as the sheets are not too smooth anyway.
